Engagement to speak at Reading University

On 29 May 2013, Helen presented a paper to the Classics Department at Reading University. Hosted jointly with the Legacy of Greek Political Thought Network, the paper formed part of the department’s regular series of Classics Research Seminars.

The paper focused on material from Helen’s recently-published article “In Sparta fühlte ich mich wie in einer deutschen Stadt” (Goebbels): The Leaders of the Third Reich and the Spartan Nationalist paradigm’, providing a synoptic overview of Nazi laconophilia, as well as its wider ramifications.
