'Youth of Sparta and of Mars'

On 12 April 2012, Helen presented a paper at the Classical Association annual conference, University of Exeter, entitled ‘Youth of Sparta and of Mars: Uses and Abuses of Classics at the Royal Prussian Cadet-Corps’.

The paper formed part of a panel convened by Helen and Dr. Rachel Bryant-Davies (University of Cambridge) entitled ‘Classics in the Classroom and Beyond during the Long Nineteenth Century’.

A slightly longer version of this paper was given to the Caius Graduate Arts Society on 5 June 2012, at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge.
