'Napola Potsdam' Exhibition at the Brandenburgische Landeszentrale für politische Bildung

In 2024-5, Helen collaborated with Brandenburg’s State Centre for Civic Education on an exhibition featuring the history of the Napola in Potsdam. The current site of the Centre, and the current State Government of Brandenburg, used to be the site of the Nazi elite-school in Potsdam. The Centre welcomed this opportunity to explore the contested history of the location.

In collaboration with the Centre’s Director Martina Weyrauch and Exhibitions Director Sebastian Stude, Helen synthesised the fruits of her research on the Napolas in general, and on Napola Potsdam in particular, into a series of panels, and clips for a media station.

The exhibition opened on 7 May 2025 with a packed event attended by eyewitnesses and their families, State and Centre representatives, and members of the general public. It runs until 8 October 2025 and is free to all members of the public.
